Guest Post and Giveaway: Devri Walls

Devri Walls lives in Kuna Idaho with her husband and two kids. She has worked as a music teacher and currently, a preschool teacher. She majored in theater and her love of a story still drives her today. Thankfully, she has finally found an outlet for all the voices in her head. Her first novel, Wings of Arian, will be released on Amazon May of 2012.  Find her on Twitter, Facebook on her blog; www.writingmyfuture.com and goodreads.

Ahhhhhhh, summer!! The time of year where the kids are out of school, the temperatures soar, and swimming is the activity of the day. Summer is also my favorite time to write. I don’t have to work, thank heavens! My schedule has mellowed out to almost nothing, and staying up late doesn’t hurt anyone.

So what are my plans this summer? Well, I plan to do some serious house organization. (Yes, I know- BORING!) Take the kids to the pool. (And sneak in some writing time on the side. My laptop will survive poolside right?) Maybe visit the park. (Laptop in tow) Family vacation to a cabin in the mountains. (Laptop attached to hip) And when the kids make me nuts I will run away to my favorite coffee shop with my….. Oh my gosh, I have a problem!!
Alright fine, I admit it. THAT is what I will be doing this summer. Writing, writing and well, writing. I have a lot to do guys, cut me some slack! I have to finish book two in the Solus trilogy, Wings of Tavea. And get the first rough done on book three, Wings of Nestor. I can totally do it, right?

And then of course there must be some reading time involved here! What do I have on my list for this summer? I have already purchased Tracey Garvis-Graves On the Island and it is waiting on my Kindle for a perfect summers night. Out of my usual genre but the reviews are so good, I had to get it! I am really looking forward to reading Matthew Merrick’s Shift. Oh, and Kristen Cashore’s, Bitterblue. I have been waiting for that one for a while! And I really need to read the last book in the Eragon series. (Between you and me though, I am still mad that they turned the last book into two books. This is my way of rebelling! Harsh right, I totally showed Christopher Paolini!)

So guys, what about you? What is on your reading list this summer? Or what else do you think should be on mine?

Thank you Devri for being here! Now, on to the giveaway!

Kiora thought she had never heard a lie until she was sixteen. But she was wrong. Her entire existence was based on nothing but. She thought that evil did not exist. Lie. That magic was not real. Lie. And that the land of Meros was all there was. One more lie.
With Aleric telling her that evil is knocking on the door and that she is the only one who can stop them she has a choice to make. Refuse, or start the wildest most painful ride of her life. She reluctantly dips her toe into her new existence of magic and threads, dragons and shapeshifters, and the person who wants to take control of it all: the evil Dralazar.
However, this journey was never meant to be hers alone. She will be accompanied by a Protector. To her disbelief, and utter irritation they name the hotheaded, stubborn, non -magical, (albeit gorgeous) Prince Emane. They will have to trust each other with their lives, but right now Kiora would settle for a non hostile conversation.
And now it comes down to this, If you had never heard a lie, would you know when you heard one? Is knowing good from evil innate? Kiora finds herself having to decide who lives and who dies on those very questions.

One lucky winner will get an e-book copy of Wings of Arian and two other winners will each get a signed bookmark for her book.
To enter just leave summer reading suggestions in the comments below. What should we be reading this summer? :)

  1. Great summer-read picks! I've heard fabulous things about On the Island & Bitterblue so if I get the chance I might read those as well. I haven't really made a plan for designated "summer reads" but I do plan on doing some summer re-reads including re-reading the Vampire Academy books. They're fabulous!

  3. There's so many out there but one of my aims is to get caught up with Michael Grant's Gone series. Love it but there are five books, so far.
