Creeptastic Reads 2014! || October TBR

October is here! Everything about fall, from the fashion to the weather, is absolutely perfect in my book. Plus, my favorite genre is mystery/horror, so this is the perfect time to put two and two together. Creeptastic Reads is a feature I started a few years back (and failed every year), but this year I'm determined to make it work. Here's the main gist; I'll be choosing some creepy books or some mysteries that have been begging to be read, I'll read them, and then I'll let you know how much I liked them, and how creepy they were (on a scale from "not at all" to "OMG I'M NEVER SLEEPING AGAIN"). That way, you can decide if any of the books I reviewed are books you'll be picking up, or if you want to skip because they just sound absolutely terrifying and you'd rather stick to the contemporaries. Plus, be on the lookout for some awesome author interviews and giveaways!

The Creepy TBR:

Obviously I won't be getting to all of these (unless some miracle happens), but I will be attempting to read and review most of them. Let me know if you've read any of these, which ones I should bump up on my TBR, and which ones you would definitely like to see reviews of. Happy reading!

October Wrap-Up!

I managed to read four books this month, which I think is pretty great considering how busy my professors kept me. As far as quality wise, it wasn't the best month. I'll have reviews up for these books throughout the month but just know that the only one I truly ADORED was Sweet Venom. It was such a fun book to read :)

What I read:

Spies and Prejudice City of a Thousand Dolls (Bhinian Empire, #1) Sweet Venom (Medusa Girls, #1) Truly, Madly, Deadly

What did you read this month? Any good ones I should know about?

October Releases: My Top Five

Fall is always the best time of the year for new releases. Last month some amazing books came out and this month is the month of sequels. So many long awaited for sequels! There are also some contemporary and some new series in this list that I'm super excited to start reading. So here are the books I'll definitely be picking up this month:

1. Allegiant by Veronica Roth
(October 22nd)

Allegiant (Divergent, #3)

I haven't read Insurgent yet but you can bet that I'll be getting this one as soon as it hits shelves. That way I can marathon my way through the last two books of the trilogy.

2. Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles
(October 1st)

Wild Cards (Wild Cards, #1)

This is sad to say, but I have yet to read Perfect Chemistry or anything else by Simone Elkeles. *hides* Don't throw books at me! This one reminds me a little of Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally and I ADORED that book so I'm excited to get my hands on it.

(October 1st)

Unbreakable (Legion, #1)

I haven't read the Castor Chronicles yet but this one seems to be more up my alley. I'm very intrigued by the premise especially since the summary says it's Supernatural meets The Da Vinci Code.

(October 10th)

Just One Year (Just One Day, #2)

Just One Day was tough for me. As you can see in my review of it, I was torn because I loved the beginning and enjoyed the ending but hated the middle. I have faith in Gayle Forman though and I have a feeling I'll enjoy Willem's story more than Allyson's (I didn't even remember her name, I had to look it up if that's an indicator).

(October 22nd/October 15th)

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1) Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2)

This one's kind of cheating since The Darkest Minds came out last year but since I never read it, I'm excited for it's rerelease in paperback. Plus, Never Fade comes out this month too. You know what that means? MARATHONING!

What are you excited for this October? Any books I should definitely add to my super-excited-about list?

Creeptastic Reads: October TBR

This month is obviously the month for all creepy and scary things. Halloween is coming up so I decided that I would do something special for my reading. I will be reading some creepy and scary books and then doing a feature called Creeptastic Reads. It will include a review of the book with the normal rating and then a creeptastic rating where I let you know how creepy or scary it actually is. So for this month the options for the scary books are:

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) Ten  Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine, #1) Ruined (Ruined, #1) Audrey's Guide to Witchcraft (Audrey's Guides, #1) Harbinger
Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
TEN by Gretchen McNeil
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Ruined by Paula Morris
Audrey's Guide to Witchcraft by Jody Gehrman
Harbinger by Sara Wilson Etienne

My regular TBR:
The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle, #1) Angels of the Knights - Fallon Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1) Pure (Covenant, #2) Cursed Intangible
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Angels of the Knights by Valerie Zambito
Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Intangible by J. Meyers

Let me know if there are any creepy or scary books you would like me to review for Creeptastic Reads and which one from this list you are more interested in having me review! :)
